i blew up my motor and i got a new one but im not sure how to hook up the charging mechanism. my previous motor had one wire with a round plug to connect it. now this new motor has 2 wires coming from the motor with a rectangle plug, it has a red and a black wire. somewhere i heard you are suposed to cut the black wire and use the red one but im not posative so thanks for any help that you can offer on how to hook it up | |

hmm.....like with mine. I took the charging system out, since I'm not running lights. | |

charging i just bought a new briggs and strattion 17.5 hp and cant seem to hook up the wireing as well any one have an idea please help | |

the red wire charges the system on most briggs and stratton engines and you only need to hook that up to the positive side of your battery and then check it with a voltmeter to see if it is putting out 12.5 or more volts when the engine is running. | |
