Bought a '68 gilson the other day. guy said it would run. had a busted rod. took it back and traded this one for a snapper comet. 16hp hydro. runs good for a '74

I know! It's really deserted. *queue tumble-weed* Nice tractor though, I love those older ones, the non 'mainsteam' classics, such as Snapper and Gilson. Don't get me wrong, I love JD's and Simplicites, but these are that little bit more special

picked up a weight machine for the weights today. 150# of cast iron weights at 10# each for free. works good for front end weight for pulling or ad some to the back end for mudding or pushing snow thinking about stretching the gilson about a foot and making a puller out of it. hard to beat a shaft drive hydro, just got to get the tires and weight right

Bought a '78 gilson dirt cheap last week. picked up a 17hp single for $40, and a yardman flipper for $100. I'll put $50 in the YM and sell it for $450. Guys around here are getting summer cabin fever and giving stuff away. Stock up now for the winter projects!!

got some new rubber on the front and a 4" lift in the back. artwork is kinda hard to see with the mud on it. working on flaming skulls. My son wont let it sit long enough to finish them. gonna do foot throttle and stacks. still need to move the engine back to fit a bigger engine pulley, only have room for a 3" on the front right now. will hit about 12 mph now, shooting for 25

Got the pulley upgrade done. working on the bumpers and skid plate. Still aint hooked up the GPS, but it will out run the Sling Blade(but that one will pull a wheelie at 20MPH). New carb made a big difference, the old one was pretty sloppy. Would not idle for shit and had no power. pulley change jacked up the angle on the idler (h to v drive) need to ad a few idlers for belt alignment and a auto tensioner for the front belt. It stretches and the adjustment loosens the back belt.

got the mud pit full. 2000 gallons of water from the lake. more water than mud right now, gotta get it mixed up good. ran Sling blade and the big SOB (aint came up with a name yet). both had problems with belt slipping when wet. made a full belly pan for Sling Blade and a belt gaurd for the other one. BTW the blue TYVEC bunny suit works real good when mudding. Not a fire suit, but keeps the mud off of ya. They burn good so stay away fron hot exhaust. they will flash and stick to burnt skin. STOP DROP AND ROLL
