i am gonna build another monster mower with a peerless 820. would droping the  tranny down and run a shaft to a bearing at the top of the shaft with a pulley work out good, and does anyone know how to completely seal the tranny up because i have problems with shifting after i mud it for awhile

use gasket sealer

i havent sealed my trans but instead we'll drill a hole in the top and install a grease fitting and just pump some hi speed greese in to push the junk out

I use gasket maker and install a breather on the top portion of the tranny, with a long plastic tube to the frame of the mower.
